United Neighbors of Corona

Citizens, Businesses, Nonprofits & Faith Leaders Standing Together

Transparency. Accountability. Community First.

Corona Deserves Better

Citizens, business owners, nonprofits, and faith communities are paying more than ever in taxes and utilities — and getting less in return, more debt, and redevelopment plans that displace the very people who built this city.

We believe in a Corona shaped by its people — not by private developers.

Petition

We write to you not as lobbyists or outsiders, but as the people who live, work, raise families, and invest in the City of Corona.

We are residents who trusted the promises of Measure X—parents who voted to protect our children’s safety, seniors who wanted reliable emergency response, business owners who believed in clean, vibrant streets, and nonprofits who serve our most vulnerable neighbors.

Today, we feel betrayed.

THE HUMAN COST
– Families are squeezed with the highest water and sewer bills in our city’s history.
– Our neighborhoods face more crime, while resources promised for police and fire are spent elsewhere.
– Beloved nonprofits, like the YMCA and United Way, are being forced from the Civic Center.
– Small businesses—many owned by Latino families who have served this community for decades—are being displaced with no real plan for their survival.
– Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of dollars are being borrowed for projects we never asked for—water parks with fees, apartments we cannot afford, and road changes that will make traffic worse.

This is not the Corona we voted for.

OUR CALL TO ACTION
We ask you, as leaders, to pause and listen:

– Stop displacing our small businesses and nonprofits. They are the backbone of our city.
– Release a full public accounting of redevelopment finances, including bond debt, land acquisitions, and legal settlements.
– Include us in the planning process. We deserve a seat at the table when the future of our city is being decided.
– Protect public spaces. City parks should be open to all, not restricted by membership fees.
– Return to the promises of Measure X. Invest in safety, essential services, and true community priorities.

WE ARE THE HEART OF CORONA
We are not against change. We are against being ignored, displaced, and shut out of decisions that reshape our lives.

We built this community. We hire local employees. We volunteer in schools and churches. We raise families here, pay taxes here, and keep this city alive.

All we ask is that City Hall respect the voices of the people who are Corona.

Respectfully,

United Corona

Despite new tax measures and year-over-year water rate hikes, residents continue to face declining services, rising debt, and redevelopment projects that threaten to displace the very neighbors and businesses that form the heart of our community. – Local Resident
